Enhancing Our Environment

Community & Home Gardens
Rho Psi Omega has led two community garden events in 2025. For the second year, the garden at Baxter Polk House was refreshed with mulch, plants and flowers. We also supported the senior living community at Strawn Tower by beautifying a sitting area in their existing garden with potted plants and flowers, and adding pollinator flowers to their ten garden beds.

Tree Planting
Rho Psi Omega continue to plant trees at various Charlotte community locations, collectively impacting the environment.
Empowering Our Families

Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack (AKA CHIPP™)
AKA CHIPP provides weekend and holiday meals for children within local communities and is targeted to be Alpha Kappa Alpha’s most ambitious childhood hunger program to date.

AKA Youth Leadership Institute (YLI) is a youth leadership development program where we empower and engage youth, conducting programs and workshops related to stem, the environment, culture and careers.

Rho Psi Omega recently hosted a Senior Symposium with games, line dancing and guest speakers, facilitating informational sessions on "Securing Your Future: Trust, Wills and Estates, and "Avoiding Financial Scams".

Advocating For Social Justice

Representative Alma Adams

Representative Alma Adams
Rho Psi Omega stays at the forefront of social justice, empowering our local Charlotte community and acting in the best interests of all people through social advocacy and justice. In 2026, Rho Psi Omega has partnered with community organizations to hold two non-partisan political forums, mobilizing the community to vote during local, state and national elections.

We will continue the partnership in the second half of the year with additional forums, providing an opportunity for community members to discuss policy and engage with political candidates on challenges and solutions related to the direction of our country.
